Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Like IQ, EQ can be learnt.

Emotional intelligence is the skill of being aware of your feelings and the feelings of others, allowing you to interact and communicate with others with empathy, sensitivity and calmness.

The core aspects of EQ that can be learnt are:

  • Self-awareness: Understanding your own triggers and emotions and how they affect your behaviour.

  • Self-regulation: Managing your emotions in a healthy way and responding appropriately to situations. 

  • Empathy:  often thought as  “walking in other's shoes”. Being empathetic means you can acknowledge, understand and validate the feelings of others.

  • Social skills: Building and maintaining positive relationships through healthy communication. 

Meet your Counsellor

Sharron specialises in behaviour change and works collaboratively with clients to listen, explore, understand, empathise, and empower them.  Sharron is experienced in addiction recovery and supporting neurodivergent clients.  

Sharron uses approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, Strengths Based approach, Cognitive and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. 

Sharron's qualifications include:

Masters in Counselling

Graduate Certificate in Facilitating Mens’ Behaviour Change

Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs
